Practice 02 · Commerce & Growth · SKU C3
Clicks are easy.
Customers aren’t.
Search, ads, and being the answer AI assistants give, run to the only metric that matters: what a customer costs and what they’re worth. By people who can also fix the page the click lands on.

Fig. C3.2The vanity ledger
Numbers that feel like growth and aren’t.
Marketing has a talent for reporting effort instead of outcome. The ledger usually reads like this:
The monthly report runs fourteen pages and never mentions revenue.
zero decisions madeSpend went up forty percent. Enquiries stayed flat. Nobody can say why.
the leak is after the clickYou rank beautifully, for your own company name.
found by the already-foundAds point at a homepage that was never built to sell anything.
burn on arrivalA buyer asked an AI assistant for the best option in your field. You weren’t in the answer.
the new page oneGrowth isn’t a reporting problem. It’s a plumbing problem, from the search box all the way to your bank account.
Fig. C3.3The journey
Most agencies stop at the click.
A customer is built in six steps. Watch where the usual retainer ends, and where the money actually happens.
The stranger
Has your problem. Doesn’t have your name.
The search
Google, Maps, feeds, and now AI answers.
The click
Paid or earned, this is where you’re judged next.
The page
Built to persuade, not to decorate.
The customer
An enquiry or an order, counted, attributed.
The repeat
The cheapest growth you will ever buy.
Left of the line is visibility. Right of the line is why visibility pays. We run both sides. That’s the whole point.
Fig. C3.4On the shelf
Every surface where buyers look.
Channels change; the discipline doesn’t. Show up where your buyers ask, and measure every surface to the order.
Search & SEO
Rank for what buyers actually type at the moment of need, not what sounds impressive in a meeting.
Paid search & shopping
Intent, captured: Google Ads and shopping campaigns bid on evidence, tuned to cost per customer, never cost per click.
Meta & social ads
Demand, created: creative tested against orders and enquiries, not likes. The scroll is a shop window.
Local & maps
The map pack, reviews, and “near me”: where local buyers decide in seconds who exists and who doesn’t.
AI-assistant visibility
Buyers now ask ChatGPT and friends for recommendations. Being the cited answer is a discipline (structure, sources, presence), and we build for it now, not after it’s obvious.
Tracking & attribution
Every channel measured to the enquiry and the order. When the numbers are real, budget decisions get easy.

Sometimes the budget should wait.
Fuel is only useful in a working engine. We’ve told plenty of businesses not to spend yet. Here’s the split:
Hold the growth budget when
- The page can’t convert yet: fix the bucket before pouring water
- You couldn’t serve more customers this quarter anyway
- Unit economics can’t fund acquisition: margins first
- One referral channel already fills your capacity
Pour fuel when
- The page converts and what you need now is volume
- Competitors are buying the demand you deserve
- You can measure spend through to enquiries and orders
- Growth won’t break the operation behind it
The order matters: page first, then traffic. We sell both, in that order, on purpose.Fix the page first

From spend to evidence.
No spray, no pray. Numbers first, small fires second, and budget only follows proof.
Baseline
Tracking fixed first. No spend until enquiries and orders measure true.

Found, chosen, and booked.
A care-services brand that needed to be found and chosen online. We rebuilt the digital presence end to end (the site, the visibility around it, and the operational efficiency behind it), so being discovered turned into being booked.

Fig. C3.8Asked often
Questions, answered straight.
Do you guarantee page one on Google?
No, and we’d gently suggest running from anyone who does. Rankings are earned against competitors who are also trying, on an algorithm none of us owns. What we guarantee is evidence: you’ll see what moved, what it cost, and what it returned, every month, on one page.
What exactly is AI-assistant visibility?
Buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini, and their kin for recommendations instead of scrolling results. Appearing in those answers takes structured information, citable sources, and presence in the places models read. It’s a new discipline with an old goal: be found where buyers actually ask. And it rewards whoever builds for it early.
What’s the minimum budget to start?
Enough to buy real evidence in your market, which varies, and we’ll tell you the number honestly in the first call. If your economics don’t support paid acquisition yet, we’ll say “not yet” and point you at the groundwork that has to come first.
We already have an agency. Can you give a second opinion?
Yes. We’ll read the spend the way our advisory practice reads a codebase: what’s working, what’s theatre, what the report isn’t telling you. Sometimes the outcome is “keep the agency, fix the brief.” That’s a fine outcome.
What does your reporting look like?
One page: spend, enquiries and orders, cost per customer by channel, and next month’s moves. Fourteen-page decks are where accountability goes to hide.
Why do you sell growth and web design together?
Because the click and the page are one system. A leaking page makes every channel look bad, and brilliant traffic can’t fix a page that doesn’t sell. We work both sides of the click. That’s the entire premise.

Buy customers, not clicks.
Bring last month’s numbers: spend, traffic, enquiries. We’ll tell you where the money leaks and which channel deserves the next dollar. And if the honest answer is “fix the page first,” you’ll hear exactly that.
