Five questions your data should answer today.

Set for vice-chancellors, registrars, and institutional research offices. Your current systems may be consulted.

Which programs have grown over five years, and which have quietly shrunk?

    (10 marks)
  3. Q3.

Reproduce last quarter’s ministry submission: exactly, from source.

  4. Q4.

Which current students are at risk of not graduating on time?

Pass standardAnswered every morning, by system

Most institutions pass this exam once a year, through heroism. The platform below passes it every morning, by design.

Fig. ANL.3The evidence

One number, five masters.

Take a single figure (your graduate employment rate) and watch who demands it, in how many shapes. This is why reporting eats whole seasons.

¹ Definitions differ by asker; the platform holds the mappings, so every output uses the right definition automatically.

What the course covers.

Five modules, taken in the order your pain dictates. Each stands alone; together they end reporting season.

ANL 511

Institutional dashboards

Enrolment, progression, research output, and finance: live, by role, from deans to registry. The end of “let me get back to you.”

Ministry & regulator reporting

The recurring templates automated from source: mapped once, generated every cycle, checked against last submission.

ANL 513

Rankings & survey submissions

Definitions mapped to each ranking body’s rules, data assembled from source, deadlines tracked. We’ve sat on the receiving side of these.

Ranking season, calm

ANL 514

Accreditation evidence reporting

Numbers linked to the documents that prove them, so the figure in the report and the evidence behind it never drift apart.

Audit-ready, always

Early-warning analytics

Students at risk, programs drifting, deadlines approaching: surfaced while there’s still time to act.

Problems seen early

Fig. ANL.5Entry requirements

Not every institution needs this yet.

An honest admissions policy. We’d rather defer you a semester than enrol you in something that won’t pay:

Wait a semester when

  • Reports are rare, small, and one person answers them accurately
  • The records themselves aren’t digital yet: fix the registry first
  • Leadership doesn’t act on numbers it already has
  • A single spreadsheet, honestly, still holds the whole truth

Enrol now when

  • Reporting season costs weeks of your most senior people
  • The same figure differs depending on which office you ask
  • Ranking and accreditation deadlines run on panic
  • Decisions queue behind data that exists but can’t be reached

And when the records themselves are the problem, the honest first course is the data foundation.Start with Institutional Data Management

Fig. ANL.6The syllabus

A semester, well spent.

Phased like everything we build, and written to survive committees: clear stages, clear documentation, clear budgets.

Weeks 1–3

01Orientation

Every report you owe, every system that holds the numbers, every definition in dispute: mapped. The findings are yours regardless.

A map of every report you owe

Weeks 3–8

02Core modules

Sources connected (SIS, LMS, finance, research) and definitions agreed once, encoded forever. The single source of truth goes live.

One source of truth, running

Weeks 8–12

03First results

Dashboards by role, first automated templates generated and checked against last cycle’s submissions.

Answers on screens, not in inboxes

04Examination

A real reporting season run through the platform, side by side with the old way, until the old way is unnecessary.

Fig. ANL.7Office hours

Questions, answered straight.

We already have Power BI / Tableau. Isn’t that analytics?

Those are excellent visualization tools, sitting on top of the hard part. The hard part is underneath: connected sources, agreed definitions, and numbers people trust. We build that layer; your BI tools are welcome to sit on it.

Every office defines “enrolled student” differently. Can software fix that?

Software plus governance can. Definitions get agreed once, encoded into the platform, and applied everywhere. And where offices genuinely need different definitions, each is named and visible instead of silently colliding in a ranking submission.

Our data lives in an old SIS, an LMS, and finance software that don’t talk.

That’s the normal starting point, not a dealbreaker. Connecting institutional systems, including elderly ones with no API, is the foundation stage of every build, and legacy is our comfort zone.

Can it produce the ministry’s exact template?

Yes: that’s the point. Templates and portals change; the mappings are maintained as part of ongoing support, so next cycle’s submission is a regeneration, not a rebuild.

How disruptive is this for our staff?

Deliberately gentle. Nothing is replaced on day one: the platform reads from the systems staff already use, joins the data, and serves it back faster than the old way. Adoption comes from usefulness, not mandates.

How is it priced?

Fixed quotes per stage, starting with a small Orientation fee. And every stage comes with committee-ready documentation. Built for procurement, budget cycles, and the question “what exactly are we approving?”

Bring the report you dread most.

The one that eats a week of every cycle. In one conversation we’ll map where its numbers live, what automating it takes, and what your team gets back. Committee-ready proposal included.
